Rick Meghiddo, AIA
Director
Rick Meghiddo’s architectural practice in the United States, Italy and Israel has been consistently driven by a humanistic approach to design, a close relationship to the visual arts, and an endorsement of Organic Architecture’s principles. His body of work includes institutional and commercial buildings, historic rehabilitation, housing, urban design and single-family homes. He frequently crossed borders into the visual arts’ territory and into poetry, of which he has published six collections.
Born in Argentina, he practiced architecture in Los Angeles, Rome and Tel Aviv together with his wife and partner Ruth Meghiddo, also an architect and artist. In parallel he taught History of Architecture at UCI and Urban Design at Israel’s Technion, where he was Chair of the Graduating Projects Program and Coordinator of Research on Artificial Islands. He holds a Doctor of Architecture degree from the University of Rome and a Master of Architecture degree from UCLA. His works have been awarded and published in books and professional magazines.
In 2003 Long Beach’s Mayor appointed him as Board Member of the Redevelopment Agency. He also serves as member of the Long Beach’s Advisory Committee for Public Art and of The Architectural Foundation of Orange County.
